Transformative Neighborhood Initiative

The Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative (TNI) is an effort by the County to focus on uplifting neighborhoods in the County that face significant economic, health, public safety, and educational challenges. Through this initiative, the County will improve the quality of life in those neighborhoods, while identifying ways to improve service delivery throughout the County for all residents. Current TNI areas include:

Kentland/Palmer Park
Silver Hill
Suitland/Coral Hills
Woodlawn/West Lanham Hills
East Riverdale/Bladensburg (Community Lead TNI)

Sustainable Communities

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development's Sustainable Communities Program is a place-based designation offering a comprehensive package of resources that support holistic strategies for community development, revitalization and sustainability. Led by the Department, Sustainable Communities has provided local governments with a framework for promoting environmentally, economically and socially responsible growth and development in existing older communities.
