The Building Block Training Program, for youth ages 13 – 17, is designed to assist you as you venture into the world of volunteering and future employment. Sessions (or “blocks”) focus on
- Understanding the true meaning of services and why it is important to get involved in your community.
- Learning more about your own leadership traits and how to use them to become a leader in your community.
- Practicing useful techniques to help you set realistic goals, use your time wisely, and commit to your volunteer or job placement.
- Exploring the importance of proper volunteer and workplace attire and solid interview preparation – including how to highlight prior service experiences and individual strengths and skills.
The Building Block Training Program is offered in the spring and fall of each year. For more information, contact the Volunteer Services & Community Partnerships Office at 301-446-3321, TTY 301-446-3402.”
