Do You Think You Can Dance?

On July 31, 2010, The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) joined the hit television series So You Think You Can Dance in celebrating National Dance Day!

National Dance Day Xplosion National Dance Day is a grassroots initiative that encourages the nation, young and old, to move! The purpose of National Dance Day is to continue to generate national awareness for dance. Most importantly, the day is intended to promote health and wellness nationwide.

In celebration of this event, we choreographed an unbelievable group hip-hop routine, flash-mob style , and want residents across the County to participate. Previous dance experience not required.

The Xplosion is presented by M-NCPPC’s award-winning Safe Summer program, which provides youth with safe, late-night recreation activities throughout Prince George’s County.

The dance was based on the National Dance Day routine from So You Think You Can Dance choreographers Napoleon and Tabitha, but we added our own swag to it to make it an unique performance. Local choreographers were invited to help choreograph the hip-hop number.
