Teen Cotillion The Teen Cotillion is a 16-week program for young men (beaus) and women (debs) ages 14-17 that epitomizes the Department of Parks and Recreation’s commitment to promoting positive youth development. This program, now in its 12th year, offers leadership and growth opportunities to participants. Through a series of workshops, special events, trainings, community service projects, trips, and more, teen participants engage in activities that promote development of positive relationships, self-confidence, a sense of responsibility and commitment, leadership skills, and community service values. Résumé writing, interviewing, etiquette, social skills, communication and team-building activities are included in the program. Trips to a local, live performance and to a Broadway show in New York are also included in the 2010 Teen Cotillion Program. The end of this extraordinary 16-week program is celebrated at an elegant culminating event in the spring — the Teen Cotillion — a formal, coming-out gala engaging families and friends in the debuts of these young adults. Think about participating in the next Teen Cotillion program to make new friends and experience activities that will provide lifelong, positive memories. |
