Xtreme Teens: Workforce Readiness Training

We are looking for rising high school juniors, rising seniors and soon-to-be graduates ages 16-19 from Prince George's County schools to participate in a 3-day Workforce Readiness Training program.

The program will be held from June 17-June 19 and is co-sponsored by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s (M-NCPPC), Department of Parks and Recreation and Pepco.

The summer program will teach selected teens how to interview for a job, provide tips on career exploration, and enhance skills needed to keep a job. Some of the topics expected to be covered during the program include:

  • Company Culture: How to Adapt Without Losing Your Individuality
  • Dress for Success
  • Generational Awareness in Today's Workplace
  • Hot Industries /Hot Jobs
  • Interviewing 101
  • Job Application Process
  • Job Readiness
  • Résumé Writing Workshop
  • Role of Social Media and Virtual Networking for Today's Job Seeker

There is an application and selection process for the Workforce Readiness Training program. Anyone interested in the program is asked to attend the interest meeting being held Monday, May 5, 2014, at Columbia Park Community Center.
