Teen Cotillion

The Teen Cotillion is a signature program of the Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George's County. The young men (beaus) and women (debs), ages 14-17, selected to participate in the Teen Cotillion will be showcased at a formal gala with more than 800 guests.

While formal dance instruction is one important part of the Cotillion program, there are other great activities offered, too. The debs and beaus selected to participate have opportunities to attend life skills workshops that cover resume writing, interviewing skills, etiquette, social skills, family communication, confidence and self-esteem building, team building and service learning projects. They will attend a Broadway performance in New York City, a local performance, a special field trip in Washington, DC, and a service learning project. The Cotillion is a very special milestone for each teen participant and his/her family. The success of the program is evident at each Cotillion event, as staff from the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation work side by side with participants and their families to help debs and beaus define and attain positive goals.
